Frequently asked questions

Does this Motherboard Support DDR4 or DDR5?

The MSI Z790 Gaming Pro WiFi is built with DDR5 memory slots only. You cannot plug DDR4 sticks into this board.

Maximum Ram Support?

The MSI Z790 GAMING PRO WIFI motherboard supports a maximum memory capacity of 256GB across its 4 DDR5 memory slots (up to 64GB per slot, or using 48GB/64GB modules depending on the BIOS and kit configuration).

How many M.2 Slots & what speeds do these slots support?

All 3 slots are PCIe 4.0 x4 (Lightning Gen 4) capable, delivering up to 64Gbps bandwidth per slot.

Do these slots share lanes with the primary graphics card (PCIe_1)?

No. On this motherboard, populating the M.2 slots will not drop your primary graphics card from x16 down to x8 mode. The top slot draws its x4 lanes directly from the CPU, while the remaining slots route through the Z790 chipset.
